Own the position, not just the trade

Brokerage holdings sit apart from your trading positions. Each one carries its own cost basis, average price, market value and unrealised profit or loss, so a long-term holding never gets lost in a day of trading activity.

The difference

Brokerage and trading, side by side

Both live in the same account and settle to the same balance. They differ in what you are trying to do, and MGG keeps them in separate views so the two never blur.

Both also count toward your portfolio total, so the split is a matter of how a position is measured, not where your money sits.

Brokerage and trading compared by how a position is held, what it is measured against, the horizon it is held over and where it appears in the account

Your holdings

Every position, fully accounted for

The holdings view is the brokerage account's home. It sums what you own, breaks it down per position, and shows the profit or loss against what you actually paid.

  • Cost basis per holding

Quantity multiplied by your average price, kept separate from the current market value.

  • Unrealised profit and loss

Market value minus cost basis, in cash and as a percentage return, updating with the price.

  • Rolled into your portfolio

Brokerage holdings appear in the portfolio total and the allocation breakdown alongside cash, crypto and plans.
